Narrative:
Original filed ord.mzv.lmn.sln.J18.ipl.BARET4.san. 40 NM southwest of mzv center asked our route. Told center route as above. Reclred to join J18.ipl.BARET4.san. Upon a closer look at our pre departure clearance noticed route to be ord.mzv.J232.irk./.san. Asked ATC if traffic was ever a problem and they said no. Pre departure clearance clearance did not show a revised segment, ie, did not show any dashes or the asterisks boxed that normally is there with a revision to a clearance. The change was not noticed during the before starting engine checklist. Lesson learned, always check pre departure clearance against flight plan.
Original NASA ASRS Text

Narrative: ORIGINAL FILED ORD.MZV.LMN.SLN.J18.IPL.BARET4.SAN. 40 NM SW OF MZV CTR ASKED OUR RTE. TOLD CTR RTE AS ABOVE. RECLRED TO JOIN J18.IPL.BARET4.SAN. UPON A CLOSER LOOK AT OUR PDC NOTICED RTE TO BE ORD.MZV.J232.IRK./.SAN. ASKED ATC IF TFC WAS EVER A PROB AND THEY SAID NO. PDC CLRNC DID NOT SHOW A REVISED SEGMENT, IE, DID NOT SHOW ANY DASHES OR THE ASTERISKS BOXED THAT NORMALLY IS THERE WITH A REVISION TO A CLRNC. THE CHANGE WAS NOT NOTICED DURING THE BEFORE STARTING ENG CHKLIST. LESSON LEARNED, ALWAYS CHK PDC AGAINST FLT PLAN.
