Narrative:

I was on an IFR flight plan from mry, ca, to ads, tx. I was issued a clearance to cross the gregs intersection at 12000 ft. During the descent I lost part of my navigation capabilities and subsequently missed the crossing restr. The controller advised that there was no other aircraft conflict. Prior to reaching the fix, I asked the controller for leniency from the crossing restr and shortly thereafter he issued a clearance to descend and maintain 7000 ft. A normal approach and landing was made at ads.
