Narrative:

From pyrue intersection we were cleared to silex intersection for a visual approach to runway 8 at bur. We had a clearance to 3000 ft MSL but got a terrain warning and stopped at 3500 ft MSL. Over the mountains at that location, it would be wise to receive a clearance to no less than 3500 ft MSL -- especially at night.
