Narrative:
Departing sna on runway 19R using the noise abatement departure. At about 3000 ft the first officer, who was flying, asked for LNAV. I went to select it, but it would not. While trying to figure out the problem and reconfigure the airplane for climb, we went through the 5000 ft coastal restr to approximately 5600 ft. We began a return to 5000 ft and the controller advised that we had penetrated the restr airspace, but to continue the climb and there had been no conflict.
