Narrative:
On the majic 9 arrival to clt we were assigned holding at majic intersection. Programmed the FMC, and went back to the legs page, which showed us north of majic. Seemed to be taking too long to get there. Changed to progress page and it showed us south of majic, north of gizmo. Went to raw data (VOR-DME), #1 DME had failed, #2 showed us 6 mi south of majic. As we tried to call ZTL, he called us and issued radar vectors.
