Narrative:
After parking at gate, ground crew hooked up electrical power to aircraft then went on to other duties. No hand signals for chocks, power or anything else. I left parking brake set. Policy is for gate agent not to attach jetway unless aircraft is chocked. Since the jetway was attached to aircraft and nobody was on aircraft, I did the securing checklist, I released the parking brake (10-15 mins after passenger deplaned) and checked to see if aircraft moved which it did not. I finished up paperwork, gathered up my flight kit, and went to cabin to get my suitcase. Much to my horror I heard a crunching noise but thought the jetway moved, but it was the aircraft that rolled. Ground personnel forgot to chock the aircraft. The gate agent attached jet bridge without the chocks inserted and I made the wrong assumption that everyone did their jobs correctly. Cabin boarding door was slightly damaged, as was some plastic on the jet bridge. I won't assume ever again.
