Narrative:
Entered icing conditions at 13000 ft. Right engine intake heat was deferred and placarded. We selected right intake heat on and it worked normally. Exited icing conditions as soon as possible. No problems on returning to msp departure point. We were about 25 NM from airport when we turned around.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF AN LTT TURBOPROP RETURN LAND AFTER ENCOUNTERING ICING CONDITIONS DURING DEP CLB DUE TO THE R ENG INTAKE HEAT DEFERRED AND PLACARDED OTS. THE FLC, HOWEVER, DID USE THE HEAT WHILE EXITING FROM THE ICE FOR RETURN, AND IT DID WORK OK.
