Narrative:

In cruise flight at FL180 over lebanon VOR, IMC conditions, light to moderate icing conditions, OAT -7 degrees C. Icing suddenly became severe. Airspeed decayed rapidly until initiating stick shaker and pusher. Altitude could not be maintained, clearance for lower altitude from ATC was obtained as aircraft descended. Control of airplane was regained at 16500 and subsequently descended to 12000 ft and warmer air. All anti- icing and deicing equipment was on and operating prior to the incident.
