Narrative:
I departed kent state on oct/xa/97 to akron/canton airport and received ATIS information. I then contacted akron/canton approach on frequency 118.6 and requested 2 touch-and-goes and VFR back to kent. Approach informed me to contact tower after reporting that I had the airport in sight on frequency 118.3. After contacting tower, tower then gave me clearance for touch-and-go for runway 19. After executing the touch-and-go, I received no call from tower. I then tried to contact tower to determine a standard or non standard traffic pattern. Tower called back with only my aircraft tail number. Again I called tower for the traffic pattern. Tower called back with my aircraft tail number. I then called tower and asked if they were receiving me clearly. Tower did not respond. I then executed my second touch-and-go and called tower for VFR back to kent. Tower had me contact departure on frequency 118.6. Departure then told me I didn't have clearance for the second touch-and-go due to partial radio failure, and to have the plane's radios checked when I landed at kent. This problem could've been avoided if I would've squawked 7600 on the transponder, and looked to the tower for light signals.

Title: STUDENT PLT OF A C152 MADE AN UNAUTH TOUCH-AND-GO DUE TO PARTIAL RADIO COMS FAILURE.
Narrative: I DEPARTED KENT STATE ON OCT/XA/97 TO AKRON/CANTON ARPT AND RECEIVED ATIS INFO. I THEN CONTACTED AKRON/CANTON APCH ON FREQ 118.6 AND REQUESTED 2 TOUCH-AND-GOES AND VFR BACK TO KENT. APCH INFORMED ME TO CONTACT TWR AFTER RPTING THAT I HAD THE ARPT IN SIGHT ON FREQ 118.3. AFTER CONTACTING TWR, TWR THEN GAVE ME CLRNC FOR TOUCH-AND-GO FOR RWY 19. AFTER EXECUTING THE TOUCH-AND-GO, I RECEIVED NO CALL FROM TWR. I THEN TRIED TO CONTACT TWR TO DETERMINE A STANDARD OR NON STANDARD TFC PATTERN. TWR CALLED BACK WITH ONLY MY ACFT TAIL NUMBER. AGAIN I CALLED TWR FOR THE TFC PATTERN. TWR CALLED BACK WITH MY ACFT TAIL NUMBER. I THEN CALLED TWR AND ASKED IF THEY WERE RECEIVING ME CLRLY. TWR DID NOT RESPOND. I THEN EXECUTED MY SECOND TOUCH-AND-GO AND CALLED TWR FOR VFR BACK TO KENT. TWR HAD ME CONTACT DEP ON FREQ 118.6. DEP THEN TOLD ME I DIDN'T HAVE CLRNC FOR THE SECOND TOUCH-AND-GO DUE TO PARTIAL RADIO FAILURE, AND TO HAVE THE PLANE'S RADIOS CHKED WHEN I LANDED AT KENT. THIS PROB COULD'VE BEEN AVOIDED IF I WOULD'VE SQUAWKED 7600 ON THE XPONDER, AND LOOKED TO THE TWR FOR LIGHT SIGNALS.
