Narrative:
My student and I were conducting commercial soft-field procedures at a local grass strip. We landed and taxied back for departure. On the initial rollout we encountered an unseen divot and experienced the strike with the turf. We decided to shut down and investigate. We evaluated the situation and determined that the aircraft was airworthy. We started the aircraft and did the normal run-up procedures without incident. We then flew the aircraft directly home, a 5 min flight, and everything behaved normally. The soft-field taxi/takeoff procedure was performed correctly. There was nothing to affect our judgement in an adverse way. This was an unforeseen incident that my student and I will learn from, even though no mistakes were made. I have conducted training at this airport before, in this aircraft, and without incident until this time. Given the situation, I may opt not to continue using this airport as a training location.

Title: DURING COMMERCIAL SOFT FIELD LNDG AND TKOF TRAINING, THE PROP OF A PIPER PA38 TOMAHAWK STRUCK THE GRASS TURF DURING INITIAL ROLLOUT FOR TKOF CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE PROP.
Narrative: MY STUDENT AND I WERE CONDUCTING COMMERCIAL SOFT-FIELD PROCS AT A LCL GRASS STRIP. WE LANDED AND TAXIED BACK FOR DEP. ON THE INITIAL ROLLOUT WE ENCOUNTERED AN UNSEEN DIVOT AND EXPERIENCED THE STRIKE WITH THE TURF. WE DECIDED TO SHUT DOWN AND INVESTIGATE. WE EVALUATED THE SIT AND DETERMINED THAT THE ACFT WAS AIRWORTHY. WE STARTED THE ACFT AND DID THE NORMAL RUN-UP PROCS WITHOUT INCIDENT. WE THEN FLEW THE ACFT DIRECTLY HOME, A 5 MIN FLT, AND EVERYTHING BEHAVED NORMALLY. THE SOFT-FIELD TAXI/TKOF PROC WAS PERFORMED CORRECTLY. THERE WAS NOTHING TO AFFECT OUR JUDGEMENT IN AN ADVERSE WAY. THIS WAS AN UNFORESEEN INCIDENT THAT MY STUDENT AND I WILL LEARN FROM, EVEN THOUGH NO MISTAKES WERE MADE. I HAVE CONDUCTED TRAINING AT THIS ARPT BEFORE, IN THIS ACFT, AND WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL THIS TIME. GIVEN THE SIT, I MAY OPT NOT TO CONTINUE USING THIS ARPT AS A TRAINING LOCATION.
