Narrative:
After 1 touch-and-go we proceeded upwind following a C152. After reaching traffic pattern altitude on crosswind, we proceeded to turn downwind and extended the landing gear and flaps 10 degrees slowing to 80 KIAS for spacing. Prior to reaching the approach end of runway 36 we heard a C172 report 'abeam' at which time we were still following a C152. Shortly afterwards we reported 'abeam the numbers' and were cleared to land. About 10 seconds later, we commenced a power reduction and descent for landing. Once on base leg, I noticed a C152 below us (approximately 300 ft). At this time we turned wbound. The C152 informed tower that there was an aircraft above them. A few seconds later, tower acknowledged our position as approximately 2 mi west and cleared us #2 for the option upon which time we made a full stop landing. There were numerous aircraft in the traffic pattern and up to 5 aircraft were being cleared for the option. This specific tower and the aircraft that use this facility normally do a great job with amount of operations that occur.

Title: INSTRUCTOR WITH STUDENT PLT IN C172RG HAS NMAC WITH C152 IN TFC PATTERN. CTLR HAD CLRED BOTH FOR LNDG.
Narrative: AFTER 1 TOUCH-AND-GO WE PROCEEDED UPWIND FOLLOWING A C152. AFTER REACHING TFC PATTERN ALT ON XWIND, WE PROCEEDED TO TURN DOWNWIND AND EXTENDED THE LNDG GEAR AND FLAPS 10 DEGS SLOWING TO 80 KIAS FOR SPACING. PRIOR TO REACHING THE APCH END OF RWY 36 WE HEARD A C172 RPT 'ABEAM' AT WHICH TIME WE WERE STILL FOLLOWING A C152. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS WE RPTED 'ABEAM THE NUMBERS' AND WERE CLRED TO LAND. ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER, WE COMMENCED A PWR REDUCTION AND DSCNT FOR LNDG. ONCE ON BASE LEG, I NOTICED A C152 BELOW US (APPROX 300 FT). AT THIS TIME WE TURNED WBOUND. THE C152 INFORMED TWR THAT THERE WAS AN ACFT ABOVE THEM. A FEW SECONDS LATER, TWR ACKNOWLEDGED OUR POS AS APPROX 2 MI W AND CLRED US #2 FOR THE OPTION UPON WHICH TIME WE MADE A FULL STOP LNDG. THERE WERE NUMEROUS ACFT IN THE TFC PATTERN AND UP TO 5 ACFT WERE BEING CLRED FOR THE OPTION. THIS SPECIFIC TWR AND THE ACFT THAT USE THIS FACILITY NORMALLY DO A GREAT JOB WITH AMOUNT OF OPS THAT OCCUR.
