Narrative:
On planning a business trip to lwb to drop off 2 passenger, checked WX by our computer (air carrier) for a XA00 departure from agc. Lwb was 0/0 at this time and we waited to depart until lwb reported a 300 ft ceiling and 1 mi visibility which was XB55. Air carrier stated 'no NOTAMS' and when I filed with altoona FSS, no mention was made about needing a reservation into or out of lwb. The airport was not extremely busy at our arrival or departure. As a matter of fact, a C9 was doing touch and goes. It was only after my return to agc another pilot told me reservations were in effect. My operations into lwb without a reservation was not intentional. Supplemental information from acn 382747: the flight board in our dispatch office was checked (dispatch normally handles slots) and no slots were listed for our flight. Air carrier WX and NOTAM printout also was checked and no NOTAMS for slots into lwb were observed. The trip in and out was conducted without event. On discussion with a second crew 2 days later they found a NOTAM requiring slots for our arrival and departure date. In the future don't trust dispatch or air carrier. Exhaust every source for NOTAM information.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN SMT FLYING INTO LWB, WV, IS NOT AWARE THAT LNDG SLOTS ARE REQUIRED. SEVERAL SOURCES OF NOTAMS ARE CHKED BUT NOTHING MENTIONS THE NEED FOR A LNDG SLOT. FLC IS NOT AWARE OF SLOT REQUIREMENT UNTIL 2 DAYS LATER.
Narrative: ON PLANNING A BUSINESS TRIP TO LWB TO DROP OFF 2 PAX, CHKED WX BY OUR COMPUTER (ACR) FOR A XA00 DEP FROM AGC. LWB WAS 0/0 AT THIS TIME AND WE WAITED TO DEPART UNTIL LWB RPTED A 300 FT CEILING AND 1 MI VISIBILITY WHICH WAS XB55. ACR STATED 'NO NOTAMS' AND WHEN I FILED WITH ALTOONA FSS, NO MENTION WAS MADE ABOUT NEEDING A RESERVATION INTO OR OUT OF LWB. THE ARPT WAS NOT EXTREMELY BUSY AT OUR ARR OR DEP. AS A MATTER OF FACT, A C9 WAS DOING TOUCH AND GOES. IT WAS ONLY AFTER MY RETURN TO AGC ANOTHER PLT TOLD ME RESERVATIONS WERE IN EFFECT. MY OPS INTO LWB WITHOUT A RESERVATION WAS NOT INTENTIONAL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 382747: THE FLT BOARD IN OUR DISPATCH OFFICE WAS CHKED (DISPATCH NORMALLY HANDLES SLOTS) AND NO SLOTS WERE LISTED FOR OUR FLT. ACR WX AND NOTAM PRINTOUT ALSO WAS CHKED AND NO NOTAMS FOR SLOTS INTO LWB WERE OBSERVED. THE TRIP IN AND OUT WAS CONDUCTED WITHOUT EVENT. ON DISCUSSION WITH A SECOND CREW 2 DAYS LATER THEY FOUND A NOTAM REQUIRING SLOTS FOR OUR ARR AND DEP DATE. IN THE FUTURE DON'T TRUST DISPATCH OR ACR. EXHAUST EVERY SOURCE FOR NOTAM INFO.
