Narrative:

Autoplt was turned on at 9000 ft MSL for altitude hold and heading. 9000 ft was my assigned altitude. I was busy with other cockpit duties and did not notice the altitude portion of autoplt had disengaged. Altitude then deviated +1000 ft to 10000 ft MSL. Denver departure then queried my current altitude and I responded that I was 'correcting.' the autoplt in these aircraft must continuously be monitored just like the autoplt in any other aircraft.
