Narrative:
On final approach to dfw, flaps 15 degrees, gear up, at approximately 2000-2500 ft AGL (first officer flying), we received an RA alert to climb at a rate of at least 1500 FPM. The RA indicated traffic was 400 ft directly below us. The first officer advanced the throttles forward about 80-90% toga power. He simultaneously rotated the nose up about 5 degrees above the horizon. This resulted in a climb of less than 500 FPM. I pushed the throttles forward toward the firewall to get maximum power and called for the nose to come up to a maximum deck angle of 20 degrees. Aircraft responded with a positive climb of 1500 FPM. At this time the engine also spooled up completely resulting in an inadvertent redlining of all 3 engines. This situation did not last more than 1 or perhaps 2 seconds. As we began our climb the RA disappeared from our scope, proving to be an erroneous indication. I notified ATC of our situation and we continued the missed approach. Maintenance notified, all engines checked ok. As always, the first officer and flight engineer did an excellent job.

Title: B727 ACFT ON APCH RECEIVED TCASII RA AND EXECUTED A GAR. RA COMMANDED A 1500 FT CLB AND CAPT RPTR PUSHED PWR UP TO TOGA TO AID IN OBTAINING THAT CLB RATE, BUT DOING THAT OVER BOOSTED THE ENGS ABOVE RED LINE. TCASII TARGET WAS FALSE.
Narrative: ON FINAL APCH TO DFW, FLAPS 15 DEGS, GEAR UP, AT APPROX 2000-2500 FT AGL (FO FLYING), WE RECEIVED AN RA ALERT TO CLB AT A RATE OF AT LEAST 1500 FPM. THE RA INDICATED TFC WAS 400 FT DIRECTLY BELOW US. THE FO ADVANCED THE THROTTLES FORWARD ABOUT 80-90% TOGA PWR. HE SIMULTANEOUSLY ROTATED THE NOSE UP ABOUT 5 DEGS ABOVE THE HORIZON.
