At FL370 position clxtn #3 fire detection fail alert illuminated, followed shortly thereafter by engine fire #3 alert. Engine fire checklist completed, both fire bottles fired, declared emergency, descended to FL330 with ATC clearance. Direct champ direct jfk, uneventful landing, met by crash fire rescue equipment. All parties very helpful. Aircraft landed under maximum landing weight.
