Narrative:
I am submitting this report due to an unsafe condition that occurred at our facility. While the recorder tapes were being changed prior to the opening of the control tower, I noticed a leak from overhead. Upon further examination, I noticed that rain had been dripping on electrical equipment. The facility had been unmanned from approximately XX00 the evening before, until our arrival of the day shift at XA50 the following day. Our facility operates 14 hours per day. It had been raining for hours throughout the night. The possibility of an electrical fire during the unmanned hours, as well as during our presence during the shift was a serious threat. I did not attempt to dry the electrical equipment, but I did cover it from further contact. Airways facilities was notified, and a technician could not find the source of the rain water that was entering the building. He did cover the equipment with plastic. A co- worker was witness to the problem.
