Narrative:
Flying inbound on the bonham 2 arrival to dfw. Captain briefed arrival with xings and speeds. We received 'cross karla at 11000 ft.' captain was descending while I did descent flow and check. We also had a jump seat rider and were talking with him. The captain got behind in descent and just before karla (11 mi from byp) the controller came on and gave us level at 12000 ft and told us to slow down to arrival airspeed of 280 KTS. I had forgotten about the speed restr. We may have made the altitude but we were way too fast at karla. It was briefed and just an error that I also did not catch. Supplemental information from acn 386480: during descent, ATC gave a 15 degree heading to short cut the arrival. I ended up being 1 intersection ahead of where I thought we were. I believe we made the altitude restr, but not the speed. Plus, I missed a turn inbound to intercept a dfw radial. ATC assigned a heading to correct and had to instruct us to slow down.

Title: FLC OF DC9 FAILS TO REDUCE SPD WHEN CLRED TO DSND AND SLOW DOWN. THEY APPARENTLY MEET THE XING RESTR BUT NOT THE SPD.
Narrative: FLYING INBOUND ON THE BONHAM 2 ARR TO DFW. CAPT BRIEFED ARR WITH XINGS AND SPDS. WE RECEIVED 'CROSS KARLA AT 11000 FT.' CAPT WAS DSNDING WHILE I DID DSCNT FLOW AND CHK. WE ALSO HAD A JUMP SEAT RIDER AND WERE TALKING WITH HIM. THE CAPT GOT BEHIND IN DSCNT AND JUST BEFORE KARLA (11 MI FROM BYP) THE CTLR CAME ON AND GAVE US LEVEL AT 12000 FT AND TOLD US TO SLOW DOWN TO ARR AIRSPD OF 280 KTS. I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE SPD RESTR. WE MAY HAVE MADE THE ALT BUT WE WERE WAY TOO FAST AT KARLA. IT WAS BRIEFED AND JUST AN ERROR THAT I ALSO DID NOT CATCH. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 386480: DURING DSCNT, ATC GAVE A 15 DEG HDG TO SHORT CUT THE ARR. I ENDED UP BEING 1 INTXN AHEAD OF WHERE I THOUGHT WE WERE. I BELIEVE WE MADE THE ALT RESTR, BUT NOT THE SPD. PLUS, I MISSED A TURN INBOUND TO INTERCEPT A DFW RADIAL. ATC ASSIGNED A HDG TO CORRECT AND HAD TO INSTRUCT US TO SLOW DOWN.
