Narrative:
I am a CFI. I let my student do a solo flight to another airport within 25 NM radius. While he was on the ground at the other airport he hit the wingtip of the airplane on the door of a hangar. No substantial damage. I had signed him off to solo at this other airport, but made the mistake of not specifying day/night operations. And the new regulations, that someone pointed out to me after this incident occurred, states that you must endorse the logbook for solo night flight. I consider myself a safe pilot and go by the book, but I need to be extra sure, and I'll pass on to others my experience.
