Narrative:
The flight was from pdx to lax, captain's leg. We flew the saude 6 arrival to smo, then vectors downwind for a visual to runway 24R. Traffic was a brasilia over harbour freeway on final for runway 24R. We called traffic and runway in sight. We turned our base just past los angeles coliseum (after being 'cleared for the visual, runway 24R, follow the brasilia'). We squared our base momentarily, then began turn to final referencing runway 24R and the runway 24R localizer. We flew through the localizer overshooting final slightly (not past middle of lax terminal). As we corrected back to final, we got an RA warning 'climb, climb.' we immediately began a climb in response. Socal approach told us to tighten our turn and fly 240 degree heading to intercept. Just as we replied that we were climbing in response to an RA, the RA warning changed to 'descend, descend.' we started to comply but the TCASII gave a 'clear of conflict.' we never saw the conflict aircraft. Socal switched us to tower. Landing was uneventful. The entire sequence lasted approximately 10 seconds.

Title: FLC OF LGT ACR OVERSHOT THE FINAL FOR RWY 24R AND RECEIVED A TCASII RA TO FIRST CLB AND THEN DSND WHILE CORRECTING BACK TO THE FINAL.
Narrative: THE FLT WAS FROM PDX TO LAX, CAPT'S LEG. WE FLEW THE SAUDE 6 ARR TO SMO, THEN VECTORS DOWNWIND FOR A VISUAL TO RWY 24R. TFC WAS A BRASILIA OVER HARBOUR FREEWAY ON FINAL FOR RWY 24R. WE CALLED TFC AND RWY IN SIGHT. WE TURNED OUR BASE JUST PAST LOS ANGELES COLISEUM (AFTER BEING 'CLRED FOR THE VISUAL, RWY 24R, FOLLOW THE BRASILIA'). WE SQUARED OUR BASE MOMENTARILY, THEN BEGAN TURN TO FINAL REFING RWY 24R AND THE RWY 24R LOC. WE FLEW THROUGH THE LOC OVERSHOOTING FINAL SLIGHTLY (NOT PAST MIDDLE OF LAX TERMINAL). AS WE CORRECTED BACK TO FINAL, WE GOT AN RA WARNING 'CLB, CLB.' WE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN A CLB IN RESPONSE. SOCAL APCH TOLD US TO TIGHTEN OUR TURN AND FLY 240 DEG HDG TO INTERCEPT. JUST AS WE REPLIED THAT WE WERE CLBING IN RESPONSE TO AN RA, THE RA WARNING CHANGED TO 'DSND, DSND.' WE STARTED TO COMPLY BUT THE TCASII GAVE A 'CLR OF CONFLICT.' WE NEVER SAW THE CONFLICT ACFT. SOCAL SWITCHED US TO TWR. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL. THE ENTIRE SEQUENCE LASTED APPROX 10 SECONDS.
