Narrative:

Picked up aircraft after remaining overnight. During preflight discovered anti-skid inoperative. Called maintenance and dispatcher for MEL. Talked about WX and runway conditions at departure and destination airports. Dispatcher okayed departure with MEL XXXX (anti- skid inoperative) and sent MEL approval via ACARS along with takeoff data. After departure received ACARS message to contact dispatch when on ground. Did so and was told dispatch supervisor ran the numbers in computer and discovered we were overweight for takeoff with anti-skid inoperative. Tried to contact us before departure. The problem seems to be in dispatch, but I should have been more aware.
