Narrative:
ATC facility: iad tower, while still on the ground. Location: taxiway J/J1. We saw and reported broken taxiway lights prior to arriving at the hold short for runway 19L at iad while on tower frequency. In cruise, we received a message over ACARS that we had broken taxiway lights at iad. We did not hit any lights. Taxi and line-up were all very normal. Dispatch relayed to iad, report sent to explain misunderstanding.
