Narrative:
Before departure, as the captain, I briefed copilot about the SID and two crossing restrs and mentioned that we could expect some turbulence during climb out, because we had encountered moderate to severe during our arrival (standing lenticular were visible in the area). It was copilot's leg and we both must have gotten distracted. Altitude at pom should have been 8000 ft or below. Departure questioned our altitude at pom VOR and we told him 8500 ft.

Title: ACR FLC STATES COCKPIT DISTRACTIONS CAUSED THEM TO OVERSHOOT SID ALT XING RESTR. ACFT ENCOUNTERED WX RELATED CONDITIONS ON CLBOUT FROM ONT ARPT.
Narrative: BEFORE DEP, AS THE CAPT, I BRIEFED COPLT ABOUT THE SID AND TWO XING RESTRS AND MENTIONED THAT WE COULD EXPECT SOME TURB DURING CLBOUT, BECAUSE WE HAD ENCOUNTERED MODERATE TO SEVERE DURING OUR ARR (STANDING LENTICULAR WERE VISIBLE IN THE AREA). IT WAS COPLT'S LEG AND WE BOTH MUST HAVE GOTTEN DISTRACTED. ALT AT POM SHOULD HAVE BEEN 8000 FT OR BELOW. DEP QUESTIONED OUR ALT AT POM VOR AND WE TOLD HIM 8500 FT.
