Narrative:
My fellow flight instructor rented out a beechcraft duchess and performed preflight. I could not show up to flight because of my job responsibilities. Later that day, I was able to go so we went to the aircraft. He forgot to untie the right tie- down rope and we dragged a brick with us as we left the tie-down area. It was only on takeoff that we knew something was not right. We immediately came back in and landed. It seems as if his walkaround preflight was inadequate. After the flight, we saw the tie-down rope attached to the wing but did not realize we dropped an object onto the runway on takeoff. Later that night, I found out from the state department what happened and talked to auths immediately about the situation.

Narrative: MY FELLOW FLT INSTRUCTOR RENTED OUT A BEECHCRAFT DUCHESS AND PERFORMED PREFLT. I COULD NOT SHOW UP TO FLT BECAUSE OF MY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES. LATER THAT DAY, I WAS ABLE TO GO SO WE WENT TO THE ACFT. HE FORGOT TO UNTIE THE R TIE- DOWN ROPE AND WE DRAGGED A BRICK WITH US AS WE LEFT THE TIE-DOWN AREA. IT WAS ONLY ON TKOF THAT WE KNEW SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT. WE IMMEDIATELY CAME BACK IN AND LANDED. IT SEEMS AS IF HIS WALKAROUND PREFLT WAS INADEQUATE. AFTER THE FLT, WE SAW THE TIE-DOWN ROPE ATTACHED TO THE WING BUT DID NOT REALIZE WE DROPPED AN OBJECT ONTO THE RWY ON TKOF. LATER THAT NIGHT, I FOUND OUT FROM THE STATE DEPT WHAT HAPPENED AND TALKED TO AUTHS IMMEDIATELY ABOUT THE SIT.
