Narrative:
Upon calling ground control, we understood, or thought we heard to taxi to runway 19R via txwys G, D and north. We had been through las about 2 hours previously and runway 19L was closed as it had been for some time. We taxied out via the above route and as we were crossing runway 19L we noticed that it apparently was now open. I asked the first officer if we were indeed cleared to cross runway 19L and he said yes, we were cleared to runway 19R. After crossing, air carrier Y, who had been told to follow us, asked ground if he was supposed to follow us across runway 19L. Ground control told air carrier Y that he was supposed to continue to runway 19L for departure and that he thought that we were cleared to cross runway 19L and taxi to runway 19R by tower, which was not the case. We at that time began to think we may have misunderstood our taxi clearance. Ground nor tower however mentioned any error to us. If a mistake was made, it was due to our being used to being cleared to runway 19R since runway 19L has been closed and indeed was closed just 2 hours previously.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR FLC TAXIES ACROSS LAS RWY 19L ENRTE TO RWY 19R, ASSUMING THAT SINCE RWY 19L WAS CLOSED EARLIER IN THE DAY, IT WAS STILL CLOSED. PIC QUESTIONS FO WHETHER THEY HAVE CLRNC TO CROSS RWY 19L ONLY WHEN HEARING ACR BEHIND, ALSO TAXIING TO RWY 19R, ASKS GND CTLR IF THEY ALSO ARE CLRED ACROSS RWY 19L. NO FURTHER COMMENT MADE BY TWR PRIOR TO DEP.
Narrative: UPON CALLING GND CTL, WE UNDERSTOOD, OR THOUGHT WE HEARD TO TAXI TO RWY 19R VIA TXWYS G, D AND N. WE HAD BEEN THROUGH LAS ABOUT 2 HRS PREVIOUSLY AND RWY 19L WAS CLOSED AS IT HAD BEEN FOR SOME TIME. WE TAXIED OUT VIA THE ABOVE RTE AND AS WE WERE XING RWY 19L WE NOTICED THAT IT APPARENTLY WAS NOW OPEN. I ASKED THE FO IF WE WERE INDEED CLRED TO CROSS RWY 19L AND HE SAID YES, WE WERE CLRED TO RWY 19R. AFTER XING, ACR Y, WHO HAD BEEN TOLD TO FOLLOW US, ASKED GND IF HE WAS SUPPOSED TO FOLLOW US ACROSS RWY 19L. GND CTL TOLD ACR Y THAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO CONTINUE TO RWY 19L FOR DEP AND THAT HE THOUGHT THAT WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS RWY 19L AND TAXI TO RWY 19R BY TWR, WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE. WE AT THAT TIME BEGAN TO THINK WE MAY HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD OUR TAXI CLRNC. GND NOR TWR HOWEVER MENTIONED ANY ERROR TO US. IF A MISTAKE WAS MADE, IT WAS DUE TO OUR BEING USED TO BEING CLRED TO RWY 19R SINCE RWY 19L HAS BEEN CLOSED AND INDEED WAS CLOSED JUST 2 HRS PREVIOUSLY.
