Narrative:
Departure traffic volume was low as we taxied to runway 14L for takeoff. We were cleared for takeoff a considerable distance from the runway on the parallel taxiway, after being told to monitor tower. This instruction was given in the middle of our taxi checklist, since we were not at the runway yet. Captain accepted the clearance and said 'we'll be ready.' I questioned him on the direction of turn. We departed and turned left instead of right to a heading of 020 degrees. Factors in this deviation include: we are normally assigned a left turn! Rushing. 80% of capts I fly with will jeopardize checklist completion to accept a departure. Being cleared well before we are at the departure runway. ATC attitude when you have to clarify a clearance. We have a few other things to do other than talk on the radio.

Title: ACR TURBOPROP FO WAS UNABLE TO CHALLENGE PIC'S MENTAL METHODOLOGY WHILE TAXIING, AND SUBSEQUENTLY PIC TURNED WRONG DIRECTION AFTER DEP TO ASSIGNED HEADING. FO CITES CONCERNS FOR MEETING ATC INSTRUCTIONS, COCKPIT TASKS, AND ATTITUDES OF SOME CAPTS WHICH COMPLICATE THE OVERALL PROCEDURAL EFFICIENCY OF HIS JOB.
Narrative: DEP TFC VOLUME WAS LOW AS WE TAXIED TO RWY 14L FOR TKOF. WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF A CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE FROM THE RWY ON THE PARALLEL TXWY, AFTER BEING TOLD TO MONITOR TWR. THIS INSTRUCTION WAS GIVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR TAXI CHKLIST, SINCE WE WERE NOT AT THE RWY YET. CAPT ACCEPTED THE CLRNC AND SAID 'WE'LL BE READY.' I QUESTIONED HIM ON THE DIRECTION OF TURN. WE DEPARTED AND TURNED L INSTEAD OF R TO A HDG OF 020 DEGS. FACTORS IN THIS DEV INCLUDE: WE ARE NORMALLY ASSIGNED A L TURN! RUSHING. 80% OF CAPTS I FLY WITH WILL JEOPARDIZE CHKLIST COMPLETION TO ACCEPT A DEP. BEING CLRED WELL BEFORE WE ARE AT THE DEP RWY. ATC ATTITUDE WHEN YOU HAVE TO CLARIFY A CLRNC. WE HAVE A FEW OTHER THINGS TO DO OTHER THAN TALK ON THE RADIO.
