Narrative:
My instrument student and I were cleared onto runway 28R by myf tower. Then we were cleared for takeoff. Then another controller cut in and said not to take off. It sounded like the first controller was overloaded with traffic for runways 28L&right. We were cleared for takeoff runway 28R. On climb out we observed a C210 appear off our port side (left) beneath us. Neither tower nor approach gave us any warning of the other aircraft. We had to turn left and maximum climb to avoid collision.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: C172 INSTRUCTOR PLT HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE TURN AND CLB ACTION SOON AFTER DEP TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH A C210 FROM AN ADJACENT RWY. THE C172 WAS REQUIRED TO CANCEL TKOF CLRNC WHEN TWR LCL CTLR INSTRUCTOR INTERVENED FOR TWR CTLR TRNEE. C172 INSTRUCTOR STATES TWR DID NOT EXCHANGE TFC PRIOR TO DEP.
Narrative: MY INST STUDENT AND I WERE CLRED ONTO RWY 28R BY MYF TWR. THEN WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. THEN ANOTHER CTLR CUT IN AND SAID NOT TO TAKE OFF. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE FIRST CTLR WAS OVERLOADED WITH TFC FOR RWYS 28L&R. WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 28R. ON CLBOUT WE OBSERVED A C210 APPEAR OFF OUR PORT SIDE (L) BENEATH US. NEITHER TWR NOR APCH GAVE US ANY WARNING OF THE OTHER ACFT. WE HAD TO TURN L AND MAX CLB TO AVOID COLLISION.
