Narrative:
I was cleared to taxi from west ramp at midway via taxiway J, turn left on runway 4L, cross runway 31L and hold short of runway 31C. Since our aircraft had been worked on all night for hydraulic problems, I had to do some service checks. After I taxied onto runway 4L, I started to do my check items. After crossing runway 31L I was concentrating on steering checks, and appeared to the tower to be erratic. They told me to stop, which I did, about 20 ft short of runway 31C. I knew I had to hold short, and was slowing down as I did my steering checks. Unfortunately, a B737 aborted takeoff as they probably thought I was going to cross their runway.

Title: CAPT OF AN ACR TURBOPROP FAILED TO STOP AT THE HOLD SHORT LINE DURING TAXI FOR TKOF FOR THE PURPOSE OF SYS CHKS AFTER MAINT. IT APPEARED TO THE TWR, AND B737 FLC, THE RPTR MAY CROSS THE ACTIVE RWY, CAUSING THE FLC OF THE B737 TO ABORT TKOF.
Narrative: I WAS CLRED TO TAXI FROM WEST RAMP AT MIDWAY VIA TXWY J, TURN L ON RWY 4L, CROSS RWY 31L AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 31C. SINCE OUR ACFT HAD BEEN WORKED ON ALL NIGHT FOR HYD PROBS, I HAD TO DO SOME SVC CHKS. AFTER I TAXIED ONTO RWY 4L, I STARTED TO DO MY CHK ITEMS. AFTER XING RWY 31L I WAS CONCENTRATING ON STEERING CHKS, AND APPEARED TO THE TWR TO BE ERRATIC. THEY TOLD ME TO STOP, WHICH I DID, ABOUT 20 FT SHORT OF RWY 31C. I KNEW I HAD TO HOLD SHORT, AND WAS SLOWING DOWN AS I DID MY STEERING CHKS. UNFORTUNATELY, A B737 ABORTED TKOF AS THEY PROBABLY THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO CROSS THEIR RWY.
