Narrative:

The aircraft had a track record of forward cargo door warning light problems. It had previously been signed off and cleared. On takeoff runway 15 burbank, the forward cargo door warning light came on at 50 KTS. We aborted the takeoff at 50 KTS with minimum braking at 136700 pounds gross weight. We taxied back to the gate, the first officer made a brief passenger announcement. We contacted maintenance control (XXX) and they gave us an en route MEL for the forward cargo door light. They also arranged for a mechanic to do a walkaround due to the abort. He completed the maintenance log page. At the gate we made two more announcements for the passenger to keep them posted on progress. The brake temperature maxed out at 205 degrees then continued cooling prior to takeoff. I made one more walkaround after we took on additional fuel. We proceeded bur-pdx without incident.
