Narrative:
Had fire warning #3 engine -- shut down -- fired #1 fire bottle. Light still on, fired 2ND fire bottle. Light still on then went off. Came back on several mins later for a couple of mins. So made several visual checks, could not see anything. Contacted company flight control -- decided to fly to destination (str) (2 hours away), overflying man, lgw, fra, ams and muc. The flight deck and cabin crew did a great job. Only radio contact at time was HF. Took time to talk to someone. Satcom would have been great. Should have talked to other on track. Did notify shanwick on HF about engine shutdown and slower mach from .84 to .805. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the fire warning was false and caused by corroded pins on the engine fire warning sensor loop.
