Narrative:
On 2/wed/02 I had a time change on fwd entry (left) escape slide. Accomplished slide change per task 25-62-44-400-001. I personally saw and assisted with the cannon plug being installed as well as our inspector for the installation. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the self-locking connector installation was witnessed by two technicians and one inspector and all heard the 'snap' when the connector is locked. The reporter said the connector is accessed through a small panel which limits visibility and when attempting to make the connection the hole is filled with your hand. The reporter stated the system tested ok per the maintenance manual procedure which also tested the wiring. The reporter said a better self-locking connector or greater wiring length is needed as this type of failure has been reported often enough to consider corrective action.

Title: AN AIRBUS 319 EXPERIENCED AN ECAM SLIDE LOW BOTTLE PRESSURE WARNING THREE DAYS AFTER THE SLIDE WAS REPLACED DUE TO A LOOSE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR.
Narrative: ON 2/WED/02 I HAD A TIME CHANGE ON FWD ENTRY (LEFT) ESCAPE SLIDE. ACCOMPLISHED SLIDE CHANGE PER TASK 25-62-44-400-001. I PERSONALLY SAW AND ASSISTED WITH THE CANNON PLUG BEING INSTALLED AS WELL AS OUR INSPECTOR FOR THE INSTALLATION. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE SELF-LOCKING CONNECTOR INSTALLATION WAS WITNESSED BY TWO TECHNICIANS AND ONE INSPECTOR AND ALL HEARD THE 'SNAP' WHEN THE CONNECTOR IS LOCKED. THE RPTR SAID THE CONNECTOR IS ACCESSED THROUGH A SMALL PANEL WHICH LIMITS VISIBILITY AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE THE CONNECTION THE HOLE IS FILLED WITH YOUR HAND. THE RPTR STATED THE SYSTEM TESTED OK PER THE MAINT MANUAL PROCEDURE WHICH ALSO TESTED THE WIRING. THE RPTR SAID A BETTER SELF-LOCKING CONNECTOR OR GREATER WIRING LENGTH IS NEEDED AS THIS TYPE OF FAILURE HAS BEEN RPTED OFTEN ENOUGH TO CONSIDER CORRECTIVE ACTION.
