Narrative:
On our flight from ege to atl we experienced a left hydraulic system failure with a complete loss of fluid from the left system. An emergency was declared upon our arrival in the atlanta area. Due to our hydraulic problems an extra long final approach was flown to give us time to lower the landing gear and flaps using our alternate system. An uneventful approach and landing was accomplished with the aircraft being towed to the gate. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the cause of the left hydraulic system failure is unknown as maintenance has not reported what component failed and maintenance action taken.
