Narrative:
After landing mke (visibility 5 mi, ceiling above 20000 ft) I requested a departure and was cleared to taxi back to runway 7R, issued a VFR clearance and told to contact the tower when ready to depart. I contacted the tower and was cleared for takeoff. At approximately 500 ft AGL the tower said the field was going IFR, visibility 2 1/2 mi what were my intentions? I reported I was in VFR conditions and would like to continue. I was then given a heading and told to contact departure. At no time did I see where the visibility was below 3 mi, either on takeoff or in the air. This scenario could have been avoided and was caused by temperature/dewpoint spread of 5 degrees.

Title: SMA PLT DEPARTS MKE WITH LAST RPTED VISIBILITY OF 5 MI. ONCE AIRBORNE, AFTER A LNDG AND TAXI BACK, THE TWR ADVISES HIM THE VISIBILITY IS 2 PT 5 MI AND ASKS HIS INTENTIONS.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG MKE (VISIBILITY 5 MI, CEILING ABOVE 20000 FT) I REQUESTED A DEP AND WAS CLRED TO TAXI BACK TO RWY 7R, ISSUED A VFR CLRNC AND TOLD TO CONTACT THE TWR WHEN READY TO DEPART. I CONTACTED THE TWR AND WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. AT APPROX 500 FT AGL THE TWR SAID THE FIELD WAS GOING IFR, VISIBILITY 2 1/2 MI WHAT WERE MY INTENTIONS? I RPTED I WAS IN VFR CONDITIONS AND WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE. I WAS THEN GIVEN A HEADING AND TOLD TO CONTACT DEP. AT NO TIME DID I SEE WHERE THE VISIBILITY WAS BELOW 3 MI, EITHER ON TKOF OR IN THE AIR. THIS SCENARIO COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED AND WAS CAUSED BY TEMP/DEWPOINT SPREAD OF 5 DEGS.
