Narrative:
Aircraft XXX air carrier xyz arrived at gate Y mar/xa/98 at ZY30. Logbook write-up as follows: 'captain VHF 1 has slight bleed through even with volume down all the way.' this aircraft is in ETOPS status and when changing parts on the aircraft you must use air carrier illustrated parts catalog for aircraft effectivity. The illustrated parts catalog is a class 1 document (updated for specific aircraft effectivity and used as a primary reference by maintenance personnel) and is kept current in-house. The above information is per maintenance manual extended range twin engine operations, page 1 dated mar/zz/94. Aircraft XXX is not listed in the 'on line' illustrated parts catalog or the film. I couldn't even confirm if the correct audio panel was installed, much less replace the panel per the illustrated parts catalog.
