Narrative:
During approach to land, student started drifting to left, flight instructor told to correct. Student was too late in correction, landed on left side of centerline, close to grass. Instructor told the student to go around, student froze. It was too late. The plane went into grass. Instructor looked over, applied full power for go around. As plane lifted off, we were too close to the tree. Had to do steep turn to avoid. No damage to person or property occurred.
