Narrative:
An FAA agent from ZZZ office conducted a ramp check at mdw. He inquired about the crew's most recent hazmat training and had general questions about carrying dry ice on the aircraft. The crew provided the requested information. The agent then asked if we carried the north american emergency response guide on board. We told him no. He said we should carry the book on board since we operate under a hazmat exemption. The crew explained that the company operations manual contained a hazmat section and that document was on board. The agent declined to look at the operations manual. The crew explained the book in question was not kept on the aircraft nor was it issued to flcs. The only hazmat manual we were trained to operate with was the company operations manual. The agent said he would discuss the north american emergency response guide with a company official.

THE RPTING CAPT REFERRED THE INSPECTOR TO THE COMPANY OPERATIONAL MANUAL FOR THE SECTION COVERING HAZMAT, BUT THE INSPECTOR DID NOT REVIEW IT AND SAID THAT HE WOULD CHK FURTHER WITH COMPANY OFFICIALS.
