Narrative:

After cleared for approach on runway 26R aircraft failed to capture localizer. Flew through localizer, instruments indicated we had not crossed it yet. Localizer still full deflected. ATC gave right turn and maintain 4000 ft. Rechannelized localizer frequency selector and reintercepted localizer. Somehow localizer frequency selector had gotten off channel, causing the problem. No traffic conflict occurred. Next time will triple check frequencys.

Title: MD88 FLC FAILS TO HAVE THE CORRECT FREQ SELECTED IN THE ILS FREQ SELECTOR. ACFT GOES THROUGH ATL RWY 26R LOC COURSE WITHOUT INTERCEPTING. APCH CTLR CATCHES ERROR.

Narrative: AFTER CLRED FOR APCH ON RWY 26R ACFT FAILED TO CAPTURE LOC. FLEW THROUGH LOC, INSTS INDICATED WE HAD NOT CROSSED IT YET. LOC STILL FULL DEFLECTED. ATC GAVE R TURN AND MAINTAIN 4000 FT. RECHANNELIZED LOC FREQ SELECTOR AND REINTERCEPTED LOC. SOMEHOW LOC FREQ SELECTOR HAD GOTTEN OFF CHANNEL, CAUSING THE PROB. NO TFC CONFLICT OCCURRED. NEXT TIME WILL TRIPLE CHK FREQS.
