Narrative:

Our C12 is equipped with the iec 9002 FMS (GPS sensor) and uses a commercial chart database (updated every 28 days). To properly utilize the FMS, you must input the origin and destination. I was coming from abq to nzy (abq, NM -- NAS north island). I was subsequently cleared for the baret 4 arrival (baret.BARET4) off the imperial (ipl) transition. The DOD FLIP (terminal) civil sids, STAR and profile descent procedures booklet, page X lists the baret 4 under nzy (as well as san). The FMS lists the baret 4 under san only. Therefore, I must change my destination on the FMS to fly the baret 4 and then reprogram the FMS once finished flying the baret 4 and then put nzy back in the FMS as my destination. Too much work down low in the terminal area. Can we correct the database? Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter called back. He stated that he felt this was a problem for the crews going into north island. A lengthy discussion was held, with the reporter finally conceding that the flight to north island would have to be a visual approach in any circumstance and the FMS was not needed or utilized for that. He was simply curious as to why this final destination could not be in the database for the FMS. Reporter did not sound like he wanted to make a further issue of this subject.
