Narrative:
ATC facility: dfw regional approach control. Location: over jen VORTAC. During descent on jen 3 STAR, passing through 15000 ft, flight attendant notified cockpit that an elderly female passenger had complained of shortness of breath and chest pains. Flight attendants promptly administered oxygen for approximately 3 mins. Passenger responded well to oxygen and subsequently took a nitroglycerin tablet. Immediately upon notification, captain declared a medical emergency. Regional approach control acknowledged immediately and provided expeditious handling for landing on runway 35L. Dispatch was notified to provide emts. Upon arrival, handoff to regional tower was accomplished and clearance for landing and unimpeded taxi to gate. Emts were standing by and boarded the aircraft immediately to administer treatment. After ensuring the passenger was stable, emts removed her to the terminal for further observation. I felt that all concerned acted very professionally and commendably.
