Narrative:

During descent, just prior to changing altimeter setting from 29.92, was given a vector heading by ATC for arrs into jfk. Assigned to descend to 12000 ft MSL. At 11800 ft noticed that we did not change to local altimeter setting. Climbed back to 12000 ft MSL. There was no conflict with any traffic. ATC noticed just moments later 200-300 ft below assigned altitude 12000 ft MSL.

Title: B767-200ER ACFT DSNDING FLC FAILED TO RESET ALTIMETER AND DSNDED 300 FT TOO LOW.

Narrative: DURING DSCNT, JUST PRIOR TO CHANGING ALTIMETER SETTING FROM 29.92, WAS GIVEN A VECTOR HDG BY ATC FOR ARRS INTO JFK. ASSIGNED TO DSND TO 12000 FT MSL. AT 11800 FT NOTICED THAT WE DID NOT CHANGE TO LCL ALTIMETER SETTING. CLBED BACK TO 12000 FT MSL. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT WITH ANY TFC. ATC NOTICED JUST MOMENTS LATER 200-300 FT BELOW ASSIGNED ALT 12000 FT MSL.
