Narrative:
During descent, just prior to changing altimeter setting from 29.92, was given a vector heading by ATC for arrs into jfk. Assigned to descend to 12000 ft MSL. At 11800 ft noticed that we did not change to local altimeter setting. Climbed back to 12000 ft MSL. There was no conflict with any traffic. ATC noticed just moments later 200-300 ft below assigned altitude 12000 ft MSL.
