Narrative:
23 mi southeast of knox VOR, ZAU cleared us down to 9000 ft. Captain (PF) commenced the descent by retarding the power levers. Both levers moved, however, the left engine power remained at the cruise power rating -- unaffected by movement of the power lever. The descent was uneventful. We called our dispatch and maintenance. We were able to switch control for that power lever to the standby controls and fly the aircraft using that method. We notified ATC of our problem and continued into ord, shot an approach, and landed without any problems. Flight attendants were notified in-flight of our problem. Also, CRM worked well and we encountered no difficulty. Emergency checklist was viewed in-flight but there really wasn't a checklist that matched the scenario. We were able to work with approach to get airspds that would remain constant through the approach.

Title: FLC OF MDT CLRED FOR DSCNT RETARDS THE PWR LEVERS WHICH MOVE JUST FINE, BUT PWR ON THE L ENG REMAINS AT CRUISE PWR. AFTER COM WITH DISPATCH AND MAINT THEY ARE ABLE TO SWITCH TO STANDBY CTLS AND CONTINUE THE DSCNT AND LNDG.
Narrative: 23 MI SE OF KNOX VOR, ZAU CLRED US DOWN TO 9000 FT. CAPT (PF) COMMENCED THE DSCNT BY RETARDING THE PWR LEVERS. BOTH LEVERS MOVED, HOWEVER, THE L ENG PWR REMAINED AT THE CRUISE PWR RATING -- UNAFFECTED BY MOVEMENT OF THE PWR LEVER. THE DSCNT WAS UNEVENTFUL. WE CALLED OUR DISPATCH AND MAINT. WE WERE ABLE TO SWITCH CTL FOR THAT PWR LEVER TO THE STANDBY CTLS AND FLY THE ACFT USING THAT METHOD. WE NOTIFIED ATC OF OUR PROB AND CONTINUED INTO ORD, SHOT AN APCH, AND LANDED WITHOUT ANY PROBS. FLT ATTENDANTS WERE NOTIFIED INFLT OF OUR PROB. ALSO, CRM WORKED WELL AND WE ENCOUNTERED NO DIFFICULTY. EMER CHKLIST WAS VIEWED INFLT BUT THERE REALLY WASN'T A CHKLIST THAT MATCHED THE SCENARIO.
