Narrative:

Approximately 15 mins prior to landing at iad, the captain called (2 chimes) and said we had 1 engine shut down and to put everything away (secure galley and prepare for landing). I asked if the flight attendants should do any emergency preparation. He said no. Secure in our jumpseats approximately 5 mins prior to landing, the captain again called (2 chimes) and asked if everything was secure. We said yes. He said it should be a normal landing. The airplane landed smoothly without incident. Emergency ground vehicles met the aircraft and escorted us into the gate. The captain gave a PA explaining to the passenger that the emergency vehicles were procedure for the aircraft engine shutdown. Passenger were calm. Normal deplaning.

Title: B727-200 ENG SHUTDOWN WITH NORMAL LNDG. CABIN ATTENDANTS INFORMED 15 MINS PRIOR TO LNDG. EMER GND VEHICLES MET ACFT AND ESCORTED ACFT TO GATE WITHOUT INCIDENT.

Narrative: APPROX 15 MINS PRIOR TO LNDG AT IAD, THE CAPT CALLED (2 CHIMES) AND SAID WE HAD 1 ENG SHUT DOWN AND TO PUT EVERYTHING AWAY (SECURE GALLEY AND PREPARE FOR LNDG). I ASKED IF THE FLT ATTENDANTS SHOULD DO ANY EMER PREPARATION. HE SAID NO. SECURE IN OUR JUMPSEATS APPROX 5 MINS PRIOR TO LNDG, THE CAPT AGAIN CALLED (2 CHIMES) AND ASKED IF EVERYTHING WAS SECURE. WE SAID YES. HE SAID IT SHOULD BE A NORMAL LNDG. THE AIRPLANE LANDED SMOOTHLY WITHOUT INCIDENT. EMER GND VEHICLES MET THE ACFT AND ESCORTED US INTO THE GATE. THE CAPT GAVE A PA EXPLAINING TO THE PAX THAT THE EMER VEHICLES WERE PROC FOR THE ACFT ENG SHUTDOWN. PAX WERE CALM. NORMAL DEPLANING.
