Narrative:

Descended to 2000 ft. Was at 2000 ft until vectored onto approach. Was given approach clearance and turned over to tower. Tower told me to go missed, low altitude alert, back to cape cod approach. Cape said I was at 700 ft. At this time the altimeter on the pilot's side was reading 1700 ft. Started to climb, altimeter stayed at 1700 ft. Readjusted both pilot's and copilot's altimeter to appropriate pressure -- pilots altimeter sprung back to 2000 ft after I turned adjustment. Altimeter replaced after landing.
