Narrative:
Flying scheduled air carrier part 121 on apr/thu/98, and the next day flew mci-jfk-mci for 5 hours and 39 mins and mci-atl for 2 hours and 42 mins. Spent night in atl on reduced rest per direction of company schedulers. Reduced rest was 8 hours. Got up next morning, flew atl-mci, for 2 hours 7 mins. Told by scheduling upon arrival at mci, I flew in violation of crew rest because of going over 9 hours in 24 hour period, therefore necessitating 9 hours reduced rest instead of 8 hours. Flying time before crew rest was 8 hours 21 mins. Regulation reads 8:00-8:59 can be reduced to 8 hours rest with 11 hours compensatory. However after 8 hours rest the flight back to mci from atl pushed flying time to 10 hours and 28 mins therefore requiring the 9 hour reduced rest. Crew scheduling instructed the 8 hour crew rest was legal, however, it does not relieve me of the responsibility of ensuring it was correct.

Title: AN ACR B737 FLC FLEW A SERIES OF FLTS WITHOUT RECEIVING ADEQUATE REST. THE COMPANY SCHEDULING DEPT INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED THE FLC'S SCHEDULE TO PROVIDE THE INADEQUATE REST.
Narrative: FLYING SCHEDULED ACR PART 121 ON APR/THU/98, AND THE NEXT DAY FLEW MCI-JFK-MCI FOR 5 HRS AND 39 MINS AND MCI-ATL FOR 2 HRS AND 42 MINS. SPENT NIGHT IN ATL ON REDUCED REST PER DIRECTION OF COMPANY SCHEDULERS. REDUCED REST WAS 8 HRS. GOT UP NEXT MORNING, FLEW ATL-MCI, FOR 2 HRS 7 MINS. TOLD BY SCHEDULING UPON ARR AT MCI, I FLEW IN VIOLATION OF CREW REST BECAUSE OF GOING OVER 9 HRS IN 24 HR PERIOD, THEREFORE NECESSITATING 9 HRS REDUCED REST INSTEAD OF 8 HRS. FLYING TIME BEFORE CREW REST WAS 8 HRS 21 MINS. REG READS 8:00-8:59 CAN BE REDUCED TO 8 HRS REST WITH 11 HRS COMPENSATORY. HOWEVER AFTER 8 HRS REST THE FLT BACK TO MCI FROM ATL PUSHED FLYING TIME TO 10 HRS AND 28 MINS THEREFORE REQUIRING THE 9 HR REDUCED REST. CREW SCHEDULING INSTRUCTED THE 8 HR CREW REST WAS LEGAL, HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT RELIEVE ME OF THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ENSURING IT WAS CORRECT.
