Narrative:

Rotated aircraft and retracted the gear. I heard a loud noise (popping) and tried to figure out what happened. The tower called and said the nose gear did not retract. I went over the ocean and tried to manually extend the gear and was unsuccessful. I then tried several high 'G' maneuvers to force the gear down and was unsuccessful. I then made an emergency landing at airport. There was minimal damage to the skin but both propellers struck the ground. Mechanics on the scene said it looked like the bell crank snapped and jammed the nose gear.
