Narrative:

I was a CFI at sfb airport for 1 yr. Regular practice to use runway 9L&right up to 10 KTS tailwind prior to switching to runway 27R&left. Can't safely conduct a soft field takeoff in a C172RG with a left quartering tailwind of more than 4-5 KTS (not enough right rudder left to counter left turning tendencies). I have 700 hours in the C172RG and have seen this problem, especially at sfb due to preferred runway (runway 9L&right) usage with prevailing west wind. Approximately 8 months ago, a friend (another instructor) of mine flew with 2 of my students at sfb in a C172RG and lost control off the left side of runway 9R in the exact same situation. They both filed NTSB ASRS reports and were called by you regarding the incident (no aircraft damage or injuries). I did not witness this incident. I read about it. I no longer work at sfb airport. The aircraft poh needs to warn pilots of this hazard.

Narrative: I WAS A CFI AT SFB ARPT FOR 1 YR. REGULAR PRACTICE TO USE RWY 9L&R UP TO 10 KTS TAILWIND PRIOR TO SWITCHING TO RWY 27R&L. CAN'T SAFELY CONDUCT A SOFT FIELD TKOF IN A C172RG WITH A L QUARTERING TAILWIND OF MORE THAN 4-5 KTS (NOT ENOUGH R RUDDER LEFT TO COUNTER L TURNING TENDENCIES). I HAVE 700 HRS IN THE C172RG AND HAVE SEEN THIS PROB, ESPECIALLY AT SFB DUE TO PREFERRED RWY (RWY 9L&R) USAGE WITH PREVAILING W WIND. APPROX 8 MONTHS AGO, A FRIEND (ANOTHER INSTRUCTOR) OF MINE FLEW WITH 2 OF MY STUDENTS AT SFB IN A C172RG AND LOST CTL OFF THE L SIDE OF RWY 9R IN THE EXACT SAME SIT. THEY BOTH FILED NTSB ASRS RPTS AND WERE CALLED BY YOU REGARDING THE INCIDENT (NO ACFT DAMAGE OR INJURIES). I DID NOT WITNESS THIS INCIDENT. I READ ABOUT IT. I NO LONGER WORK AT SFB ARPT. THE ACFT POH NEEDS TO WARN PLTS OF THIS HAZARD.
