Narrative:
After being handed off from las vegas approach control to north las vegas tower, the tower controller instructed me to enter a left downwind from runway 12. The controller then stated that there was cessna traffic departing that would remain in the pattern and that he (the controller) would turn my base inside of him (the cessna). I then replied that I was looking for traffic. After I entered a standard spaced downwind the controller stated that traffic I was to follow was a citabria on final for runway 12. My reply was 'looking.' the controller then stated that the cessna traffic was over the cheyenne air center. Once again, I replied 'looking.' I then spotted the cessna at my 8 O'clock position which I was rapidly passing on his close-in downwind. The controller then stated that my traffic was on short final and I was instructed to turn base and was also cleared to land. I replied 'traffic in sight, cleared to land runway 12, turning base now.' as I was turning base, the cessna that was following me passed approximately 50 ft below my aircraft.

Title: A C402 ATX PLT HAD AN NMAC WITH A C152 THAT PASSED HIM AS HE WAS TURNING TO FOLLOW A CH10 FOR LNDG.
Narrative: AFTER BEING HANDED OFF FROM LAS VEGAS APCH CTL TO NORTH LAS VEGAS TWR, THE TWR CTLR INSTRUCTED ME TO ENTER A L DOWNWIND FROM RWY 12. THE CTLR THEN STATED THAT THERE WAS CESSNA TFC DEPARTING THAT WOULD REMAIN IN THE PATTERN AND THAT HE (THE CTLR) WOULD TURN MY BASE INSIDE OF HIM (THE CESSNA). I THEN REPLIED THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR TFC. AFTER I ENTERED A STANDARD SPACED DOWNWIND THE CTLR STATED THAT TFC I WAS TO FOLLOW WAS A CITABRIA ON FINAL FOR RWY 12. MY REPLY WAS 'LOOKING.' THE CTLR THEN STATED THAT THE CESSNA TFC WAS OVER THE CHEYENNE AIR CTR. ONCE AGAIN, I REPLIED 'LOOKING.' I THEN SPOTTED THE CESSNA AT MY 8 O'CLOCK POS WHICH I WAS RAPIDLY PASSING ON HIS CLOSE-IN DOWNWIND. THE CTLR THEN STATED THAT MY TFC WAS ON SHORT FINAL AND I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TURN BASE AND WAS ALSO CLRED TO LAND. I REPLIED 'TFC IN SIGHT, CLRED TO LAND RWY 12, TURNING BASE NOW.' AS I WAS TURNING BASE, THE CESSNA THAT WAS FOLLOWING ME PASSED APPROX 50 FT BELOW MY ACFT.
