Narrative:
On takeoff roll multiple loud thumps (explosions) were heard when the left gear inside tire blew and made an incision into the wing then entered the engine. We contacted the captain, gave as much information as possible. He informed us we were going back to slc to make an emergency landing, and we did without incident. Helpful safety benefits and improvements would be: 1) minimum 4 crew flight attendants on this aircraft. 2) more mandatory spacing between rows of seats. Some passenger could not take the impact position because the seat in front of them was too close. 3) less carry baggage. 4) make row #1 a restr row since it is across from an exit. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: counseled reporter to assure him his suggestions are valid that he included in his report and to submit additional reports when incidents occur utilizing his suggestions. Also informed him of the FAA hot line number.
