Narrative:
After departing from phx, I was instructed to overfly a local landmark and then proceed on course (radar service was terminated at that point). My en route course took me to the south of dvt and its class D airspace. While climbing through 3800 ft MSL, a company aircraft remarked that I appeared to be in the class D airspace. I increased my rate of climb through 4000 ft MSL (the top of the class D airspace) and noted my distance from the airport. I estimated my distance to be at least 4.5 NM, but just to be sure I called dvt tower and asked if there had been a problem with my distance and altitude. The controller said that he hadn't even noticed me, and thanked me for the call.

Title: AN ATX PLT INADVERTENTLY FLIES INTO THE CLASS D AIRSPACE OF DVT ARPT. HE WAS VFR AND WAS CLBING ON COURSE AFTER RADAR SVC HAD BEEN TERMINATED FROM PHX DEP CTLR.
Narrative: AFTER DEPARTING FROM PHX, I WAS INSTRUCTED TO OVERFLY A LCL LANDMARK AND THEN PROCEED ON COURSE (RADAR SVC WAS TERMINATED AT THAT POINT). MY ENRTE COURSE TOOK ME TO THE S OF DVT AND ITS CLASS D AIRSPACE. WHILE CLBING THROUGH 3800 FT MSL, A COMPANY ACFT REMARKED THAT I APPEARED TO BE IN THE CLASS D AIRSPACE. I INCREASED MY RATE OF CLB THROUGH 4000 FT MSL (THE TOP OF THE CLASS D AIRSPACE) AND NOTED MY DISTANCE FROM THE ARPT. I ESTIMATED MY DISTANCE TO BE AT LEAST 4.5 NM, BUT JUST TO BE SURE I CALLED DVT TWR AND ASKED IF THERE HAD BEEN A PROB WITH MY DISTANCE AND ALT. THE CTLR SAID THAT HE HADN'T EVEN NOTICED ME, AND THANKED ME FOR THE CALL.
