Narrative:
Aircraft #1 was shipped to high altitude sector and I thought he was climbing to FL230. I observed aircraft #1's mode C indicate FL191 and I then climbed aircraft #2 to FL190. I should have reviewed aircraft #1's strip and verified his assigned altitude.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ARTCC RADAR CTLR MISREAD THE FLT STRIP AND THOUGHT THAT A DC10 WAS CLBING ABOVE FL190. A BE20 AT A LOWER ALT WAS ISSUED CLB TO FL190, THE SAME ALT AS THE DC10, RESULTING IN LOSS OF SEPARATION.
Narrative: ACFT #1 WAS SHIPPED TO HIGH ALT SECTOR AND I THOUGHT HE WAS CLBING TO FL230. I OBSERVED ACFT #1'S MODE C INDICATE FL191 AND I THEN CLBED ACFT #2 TO FL190. I SHOULD HAVE REVIEWED ACFT #1'S STRIP AND VERIFIED HIS ASSIGNED ALT.
