Narrative:

2 air carrier X flts leave ccs within 1 1/2 hours of each other. Station personnel fueled and boarded passenger for ewr on aircraft that was scheduled for houston and vice versa. Wrong aircraft was flown on flight ccs-ewr and flight ccs-iah. Captain failed to notice aircraft tail number was different from dispatch release and flight plan. Capts should have noted incorrect aircraft from release and called dispatch for amended flight plan and release.

Title: FLC OF 2 COMPANY SAME MAKE AND MODEL ACFT FAILED TO NOTICE DURING PREFLT THAT THE FLT RELEASES FOR THE ACFT WERE SWITCHED FOR THE FLT NUMBERS AND DESTS. THE ACFT IDENT NUMBERS WERE FOR THE OTHER ACFT THAT DEPARTED WITHIN A SHORT TIME OF THE OTHER. THE COMPANY DISPATCHER NOTED THE MISTAKE AFTER THE FACT.
